This bold Amber (Orange) wine exhibits aromas of dried apricot and peach, with a full spicy aftertaste.  An amber wine that drinks like a light red.   Velvety, soft body with round full taste and well balanced acidity.  Easy drinking alone or with fruit and cheese or can be enjoyed with white meats.  THIS IS AN INTENSE STYLE OF GEORGIAN AMBER WINE.  NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.

Serve at 10-12° C (50-55°F)

Ø Qvevri fermented with skins

Ø Hand picked and crushed

Ø Minimal natural sulfur

Unfiltered

About the Winery

Gurashvili’s is a family winery, carrying on knowledge from many generations using traditional Georgian methods using skin contact in Qvevri, the uniquely Georgian large subterranean clay vessel for production.

Winemaker Notes

Following hand harvest in September, grapes are crushed and pressed off into Qvevri – clay vessels using time honored traditional Kakheti techniques. The fermentation process takes 1-2 weeks after which the wine remains in Qvevri on skins for 5-7months, producing a distinctively deep amber color and rich amber characteristics (dry, tannic, expressive, balanced).

Vineyard Notes

The Kisi grapes for this wine were grown in the family vineyard in Sighnaghi district, within the famed Kakheti region of Georgia. Vines are grown organically at 1300-1650feet (400-500m) elevation adjacent to a forest on a rolling slope with fertile rich black soil.

Kisi (‘kee-see’) grapes are indigenous to the Kakheti region of Georgia. Kisi almost became extinct under Georgia’s period of Soviet occupation but was saved by diligence of a few small growers and is now experiencing healthy resurgence, producing high quality wines from this distinctive variety.
