Vazisubani Estate: Estate Collection Mtsvane 2020

Vazisubani Estate dates back to the 19th century and traces from one of Georgia’s most storied and cherished family lines, Chavchavadze. The Estate has been meticulously restored over the last decade, emerging as a premier wine-tourism destination built around the palace, gardens, winery, marani (wine cellar) and 35 hectares of estate vineyards.

Grapes are harvested into small bins with gentle, short travel to the de-stemmer. Must is chilled to about +41 to 43°F while transferring for de-juicing and/or skin maceration under strict inert gas ambient. De-juicing is followed by juice settling under temperature control. Oxidation is prevented while settling the juice to maximize varietal aroma expression. Decantation of clarified juice is transferred for fermentation at 57 to 59°F. The wine is matured on lees with strict temperature control.

The grapes for this wine are estate grown on the Mukuzani PDO – Vazisubani Estate vineyard on the right bank slope of the famed Alazani River in the Kakheti region. Vines are planted at 1600-1800 feet elevation. Stony clay under topsoil with mild carbonate bedrock.

Mtsvane ‘mitts-vawn-ee’ is a Georgia’s classic famed white. Viticulture is minimal intervention ‘lutte raisonnée’.
