Royal Khvanchkara - Aleksandrouli 2022 Dry Red

Royal Khvanchkara Winery is located in Ambrolauri, in the heart of the exceptionally beautiful mountainous Racha Region. The winery itself has a long history of being premier producer of the famed and cherished wines from this region for well over a century. The facility had suffered decline, was purchased by current owners, underwent extensive restoration and modernization keeping its grand architecture and heritage. It is popular destination stop for visitors to the region.

Crushing with full or partial de-stemming, fermentation of the must at 68 to 77F. As the structure of the future wine is achieved, we only macerate this wine maximum 10-15 days. We prevent wine from conducting MLF thus trying to save its original flavors, which will then be combined with the effects of the wine’s elevage in our cellars. We opt to deliver the wine conveying true varietal and regional characters as well as make our signature wine stressing on its origins.

The grapes for this wine are grown in the mountainous Racha Region of West Georgia. Vineyards area on land plots which have proven the best for this style for centuries. Vines are planted 2500-2800feet elevation. Soil is alluvial stony with carbonate bedrock. Vines are treated only manual including selective picking my hand ready for harvest. Viticulture is minimal intervention, lutte raisonnée.
