Anapea Villlage Qarvani produces Natural Wines exclusively using Georgian traditional methods.  The winery uses 2 sets of Qvevris for both fermentation (6 months on skins) and aging. All farming is organic and biodynamic and the winery is a member of the Georgia Natural Wine Association.

Mouth is soft and rich with well expressed aromas of white cherry jam, ripe tropical fruits backed by lively acidity and long finish. Velvety bouquet, velvety fruit tones.

THE WINERY

Qarvani is a brand of Anapea Village winery  imported to the USA exclusively by Ghvinos Wine Group.  Anapea Village is a unique and extraordinary Georgian winery focused on indigenous varieties and traditional techniques. Founded in 2013 by Khatia Darguashvili and her husband Gocha, Anapea farms 23 hectares in the Kvareli area of Kakheti and produces just over four thousand cases annually.  Anapea Village Qarvani is a member of Georgia’s Natural Wine Association

THE WINEMAKING

Following hand-harvest and de-stemming, grapes are co-fermented on skins using only natural native yeast in qvevri and aged for 6-7 months. Malolactic fermentation was completed naturally, and the finished wine was bottled and aged in bottle for 3 additional months before release.

THE VINEYARD & GRAPES

Grapes are from vineyards in the Kvaeli area, nestled in the Caucuses foothills.  Vines are planted at 300m (~1000ft) on alluvial soils over sandstone and are dry farmed.   Viticulture is organic with biodynamic practices.

Mtsvane-Kisi (blends are common in Kakheti,  blending bright, fresh Mtsvane ‘mits-von-ee’ with the heady, powerful Kisi ‘kee-see’ for a natural pairing. Less common are blends using Khikhvi, ‘keek-vi’ a native east Georgian variety known for its high-quality and delicate sweetness. Low in acid and capable of achieving high levels of ripeness, Khikhvi brings a silky, velvety texture to this delicious blend.
