About the Winery

Vazisubani Estate dates back to the 19th century and traces from one of
Georgia’s most storied and cherished family lines, Chavchavadze. The Estate
has been meticulously restored over the last decade, emerging as a premier
wine-tourism destination built around the palace, gardens, winery, marani
(wine cellar) and 35 hectares of estate vineyards.

Winemaker Notes

Under watchful management of one of Georgia’s premier wine makers using
state of the art facilities, harvested by hand in early morning and placed in
stainless steel tanks for fermentation remaining in skin contact for 20 days
resulting in a deep ruby color, young tannins in balance with velvety and long
lasting finish.

Vineyard Notes

The saperavi (‘saw per ah vee’) grapes for this wine are sourced from the
Mukuzani viticulture zone in the famed Kakheti region. Here the vines are planted at 1500feet elevation. Soil has black to loamy topsoil underlain by white clay with
stony structure laying on a limestone strata with carbonated enclaves. The Aleksandrouli (‘alec-san-droo-lee’) grapes are from Khvanchkara in the Racha region of West Georgia, at 2300 feet elavation. Soil is alluvial, sandy, loamy on mild carbonate bedrock.
