About the Winery

Vazisubani Estate dates back to the 19th century and traces from one of Georgia’s most storied and cherished family lines, Chavchavadze. The Estate has been meticulously restored over the last decade, emerging as a premier wine-tourism destination built around the palace, gardens, winery, marani (wine cellar) and 35 hectares of estate vineyards.

Winemaker Notes

Managed by one of Georgia’s premier wine makers using state of the art facilities. Grapes are harvested manually, transported in small batches and gently handled throughout. Grapes are destemmed and must is immediately chilled to 41-43F while transferring it for de-juicing under strict inert gas ambience. Oxidation is prevented to maximize varietal expression. Fermentation is conducted at 57-59F. The wine is matured on its lees with strict temperature control. Blending is done and then integrated for 3-9 months before bottling.

Vineyard Notes

The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Vazisubani PDO, on the gentle slopes above the right bank =of the Alazani River in the Kakheti region. Vines are planted 1500-1800feet elevation. Top soil is 14-16inches, black to loamy; Sub-soil is white clay with stony structure laying on a limestone strata with carbonated enclaves.

This wine is a blend of Kisi, Khikhvi, Mtsvane and Rkatsiteli, four of Georgia’s most cherished indigenous white varietals. Viticulture is minimal intervention ‘lutte raisonnée’.
