    An ancient grape of West Georgia, this varietal has seen a resurgence thanks to the pioneering effort of winemakers like Iberieli's Zurab Topuridze. Made in the  stunningly beautiful region of Guria in West Georgia, using organic viticulture and traditional qvevri winemaking, featuring ripe stone fruit flavors leaning more to white peach and apricot.   Beautiful freshness, moderate acidity and long finish, this wine exhibits the greatness of the Chkhaveri grape, and proclaims its rise as one of the great wines of Georgia.   Limited special production, only 612 bottles produced!

    Serve cool or chilled, pair with light cheese, salads, and light meals.


    About the Winery

    Iberieli’s West Georgia winery is family winery located in beautiful intensively green
    undulating hills of Guria in West Georgia. Production is done on-site in marani
    (cluster of qvevris) using traditional heritage production methods. Winemaker
    Zurab Topuridze is one of the founding members of Georgia’s Natural Wine
    Association and indisputably produces some of the finest natural wines in the
    Country.

    Tasting Notes

    Taste of green apple, citruses.

    Winemaker Notes

    All viticulture and winemaking is done under direction of Zurab Topuridze, one of
    the Country’s most esteemed natural winemakers. Following hand-harvest, short-
    transport in small baskets, manual crushing and destemming and using only natural
    native yeast, wine is fermented in qvevri for two months. Malolactic fermentation
    completes naturally, the wine is stored in qvevri for another 5 months, then
    transferred to stainless steel for 4 more months before it become ready for
    bottling.

    Vineyard Notes

    The vineyards are in Guria, a subtropical region in West Georgia near the Black Sea
    coast, characterized by moist climate. Vines are at ~1000ft on gentle to moderate
    slopes of clay loam colluviam soils. Viticulture is organic in accordance with
    Georgian Natural Wine Association.

    Clay loam (colluvium) soil.

    Organic fertilization.
    Copper based contact fungicides and biological fungicides and insecticides (e.g. Bacillus Subtrillis);
    No Irrigation
    Trellis, vertical shoot positioning, grown mainly on bilateral cordons or arched canes.
    Some parcels facing to east, some to west, and some are flat.
